Woodsy reindeer Wreath

Isn’t this reindeer wreath just adorable? It is not hard to do, and it is a lot of fun! You can even make one as a Christmas gift for someone, or you can make your own cute little wreath to hang up just in time for Christmas!! Happy Holidays Everyone!

Materials Needed:

10-inch square of corrugated cardboard
Pinecone wreath, with a 7 in. opening or make you own, using 2 large bags of pinecones and a twig wreath for the base,
just hot glue pine cones and arrange and use smaller ones as needed until your wreath is completely covered.
A pair of Scissors
Marker, pencil, or pen
Adult-size brown knit ski cap, or if you can’t find brown, use pink for a girl, etc.
Pair of brown or black gloves
Several handfuls of fiberfill stuffing, a large 16.oz bag should be fine.
Low-temperature glue gun
Cloth-covered floral wire
1 red pom-pom (2 inches wide)I used a plastic red Christmas ball to make it look shiny.
2 white pom-poms (each 2 inches wide)
Two 1/2-inch circles of black felt
Small piece of brown craft foam
1 yard of wide ribbon, I chose a plaid pattern, but you can use whatever you like
Small bells (optional)

How to make it

Lay down the cardboard with the wreath centered on top of it. Trace around the inside hole, then remove the wreath and draw a second circle about 1 inch bigger than the rough one. Cut along the line for the bigger circle.

Stuff the hat and gloves with fiberfill. Place the cardboard circle in the hat opening and glue about an inch of the hat material to it. Let dry.

Carefully push the hat through the wreath until the cardboard back is flush against the back of the wreath. To hold in place, crisscross two pieces of floral wire across the back of the wreath and attach to the wreath to create a cross support.

If your wreath has a built-in hanger, make sure that it’s at the top, then glue the red pom-pom nose and white pom-pom eyes onto the hat. Add a black felt circle to each eye.

Cut ears out of brown craft foam. Ours are 4 1/2 inches tall. Wire the ears in place (just push floral wire through the foam and wrap around the wreath).

For each antler: a) Cut three 18-inch pieces of floral wire. b) Fold down the top inch of each wire. c) Insert the wires into the glove opening and up to the tops of three fingers. d) Twist the three wires together at the bottom of the glove and attach the antler to the wreath frame with this wire. Repeat with the other glove.

tie the ribbon into a large bow. Use floral wire or a pipe cleaner to attach the bow (and bells, if you like) to the bottom of the wreath.

If your wreath did not come with a hanger, make a wire loop at the back of the wreath and hang

I made this wreath and the photo’s belong to me, but it was not my idea, I just followed the instructions for my wreath here, http://spoonful.com/

Chicken Cutlet Parmesan Hero

Hello everyone, I hope everyone is enjoying the week-end! It  is  such a beautiful fall day, the air is crisp, the leaves have turned beautiful colors of reds and golds, such a wonderful and glorious day! I also wanted to take a minute just to thank all of you, for all the love and support, I have received since starting my blog, from readers, and  other bloggers, this is such a wonderful community of people, and you really made me feel at home, and  welcomed, I appreciate each and every one of you, and Thank you!  Today I will be showing you how I make Chicken Cutlet Parmesan, this is a simple recipe, that you will really enjoy, Let’s get together some ingredients,  You will need a package of boneless, skinless, chicken breasts, if you like your chicken thin, then you can purchase thinly sliced cutlets all ready for you, or you can buy a big package of cutlets and slice them up to  whatever thickness you prefer, You will need to figure at least 2 cutlets per person,  I sliced these cutlets myself, I usually do a medium thickness, I don’t like them to thick or thin, put your desired cutlets on a plate.

NOTE: whenever you are dealing with any meats, especially poultry, it is always a good idea to wash your hands each time you touch the raw meat, before grabbing anything else, spices, cabinet doors etc. it is best to gather everything you need ahead of time, to limit the amount of times you will need to do this, and of course when you are all finished with everything, wash down everything the raw meat was exposed to very good! with hot sudsy water, and an antibacterial soap or a few drops of bleach.

  • Ingredients:
  • 1 package of chicken cutlets ( thinly sliced) or desired thickness.
  • 1 jar of  tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups of bread crumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 16 oz. package of fresh mozzarella,  thickly shredded, or you may buy a package already shredded
  • 2 tbs. of fresh Romano or parmesan cheese
  • 1 loaf of Italian bread  ( you may add pasta as a side if you prefer)
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • Spices
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt

Preparation: Pre- heat oven to 350 degrees.

Gather all your ingredients,  gather 2 bowls and 2 plates, put 2 eggs in a bowl, and half of all the spices 1/8th of a teaspoon, of each in with the eggs mix well.  put the bread crumbs in a bowl, thinly slice your cutlets or put prepared cutlets on a plate, sprinkle the rest of the spices all over the chicken. dip the chicken in the egg mixture, let excess egg mixture drip back into the bowl, and then press the cutlets into the bread crumbs, evenly covering both sides, put on a clean plate, repeat this process until you have breaded all of the chicken,  heat your oil about an inch deep, into a large frying pan, or skillet, lightly fry each side until it is a nice golden brown color, carefully turn the chicken over, ( Note: Oil is extremely hot, use caution when turning over the chicken, never put your face too close to the pan, and never ever go near the pan if your hands are wet, or where there is water, oil and water do not mix , please use caution>  when the chicken is lightly browned, remove from skillet and place on a paper towel lined plate to remove excess oil, slice your Italian bread lengthwise, add your browned chicken, top with 1/2 cup of tomato sauce and all the cheeses, put hero face open on a cookie sheet, bake for 10 minutes, or until cheese has melted, use pot holders, and close the sandwich and bake a few minutes more, use your pot holders to take baking sheet out of oven, let cool for a few minutes, and cut into desired pieces, That’s it! Enjoy!!!
I have this pretty little pie plate, and it really works great for breading things, take out your eggs, bread crumbs, and get a plate ready to lie your freshly breaded cutlets on as well, Here is how we got to this point!

Put your chicken cutlets on a plate

Get all your spices ready and now it is time to add the spices to the chicken and to the eggs. sprinkle your chicken with the spices.

Now add the spices to the eggs, and mix it up really well

Now put everything neatly together, and begin breading your chicken

Now it is time to fry the chicken in just a inch or so of vegetable oil

Remove the chicken from your skillet, and place on a paper towel lined plate, to drain some of the oil, now it is time to gather the rest of your ingredients. and pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees.

Slice your loaf of Italian bread lengthwise, top with your chicken cutlets,  top with 1/2 cup of your favorite sauce, and  then sprinkle with 3/4 cup of freshly grated mozzarella cheese. sprinkle with grated Romano or parmesan cheese.   bake at 350 degrees until cheese is nicely melted, around 15 – 20 minutes.

Now you are ready to enjoy!  Bon Apetit’  Thank you for cooking with me, I hope you will come back and enjoy more great recipes with me!

Daily Prompt: Exhale

Tell us about a time when everything seemed to be going wrong — and then, suddenly, you knew it would be alright

It was November 2009 Thanksgiving had just passed, and it was 2 days after black Friday, I was at work at the time, and really was not used to getting any personal phone calls at work, after all, I had a cell phone, which is how people normally got in touch with me, as I was getting ready to leave for the day, one of my co-workers had exclaimed that I had a phone call it was waiting for me in the office, how odd I thought, nobody calls me at work, so you could imagine the butterflies that were turning in my stomach, as I reached for the telephone,

On the other end of the phone, was my sister, who voice was not one I had easily recognized, the anxiety, the fear, the whole of the unknown, had reduced my usually rational sibling, into the rant and ravings of a voice that had sounded more suitable belonging to a toddler, she sounded like a baby, as she wailed and screamed, it’s Mom, I think she’s had a stroke, blackness engulfed over me, as I felt at that very instance my heart being ripped out of my chest, I fell to the floor, truly inconsolable, as I sat there wailing, one of my dear friends who had been there with me in the office, had the right frame of mind, to call my husband, he shortly arrived, and was able to get the information needed to get to the hospital, and where we needed to go, he lifted me off of the floor, and into his arms and carried me to the car,

As he started to drive to the hospital, I looked at my husband and sobbed, No not my mom, she’s too young,  I can’t lose her, I just can’t!  at 66 years old, my mom seemed to me the picture of health, she worked, kept an impeccable home, babysits for her grandchildren, helps out my sister’s with their houses and such, it just seemed impossible just 2 days before, she had hosted thanksgiving at her home, and rivaled a feast equal to one prepared by Martha Stewart herself,  at the time, I really did not know too much about someone having a stroke, I have heard the word before, and I associated it with, death, being paralyzed, memory loss, I was ignorant, regarding this disease, it was not a good thing, I knew that for sure,

When we arrived at the hospital, I wasn’t allowed in the room where my mom was right away, I was informed, that the doctor was in with her, and I would have to wait, finally when the words I had been waiting to hear, ever since I got that dreadful phone-call, ” you can go in and see your mom now” arrived, I went into a dream like state, trying to prepare my self for what ever was to be, on the other side of that curtain, I imagined my mom, my hero, my best friend, would not even remember, my name, or who I even was, I pulled myself together, and vowed for my mom’s sake, I would be strong, and not break down in front of her, or upset her or any other member of my family,

When I walked in to see my mom, my eyes, looked over her in silence, her face, wasn’t drooping, she didn’t look much different, I put my hand in hers and was surprised when she squeezed it tightly, she looked up at me, and said, ” Annmarie, ( Sigh of relief) she knows who I am, Did you see the doctor they brought into me, now that is a fine-looking man, I don’t think I ever laughed so hard in my life, but I somehow knew in that instance, everything was going to be o.k.

It’s been 4 years since MoM had her stroke, she suffered permanent paralysis on her left side, but she is ALIVE and she is here with us, with the love and support of her children, she was able to remain in her home, it is a pleasure to care for her, and give back what she has given to us her whole life. I remember when I first heard the news, I silently vowed, if given the chance, I would be different, and I can honestly say I AM, something in that moment changed me forever, I appreciate my life more and the people around me I don’t take a single thing for granted, somehow the sun is brighter in the mornings, and the flowers smell sweeter, I don’t mind long lines, and traffic isn’t such a big deal, I smile at people walking by, and always have something kind to say, and when my Mom came over last week, and said to me, isn’t it a beautiful day today? I said, Yes mom it is, and I think to myself, Everything is going to be o.k.
